What Is Choncc's Treasure?

What Choncc's Treasure Is

Choncc's Treasure is a casual side mode in Teamfight Tactics, separate from ranked play. Instead of a standard economy game, every player starts with a free random four or five cost champion, and the whole match is built around loot orbs that drop after each carousel round rather than the usual slower drip of gold and items. It rewards high rolling for strong late boards as much as it rewards careful econ play.

How Choncc's Treasure Works

You are handed a random four or five cost champion at the very start of the game, before you have seen a single shop. That champion might fit a strong comp immediately, or it might just be early sellable value while you find your actual plan. Loot orbs drop after every carousel stage, and they escalate as the game goes on: the early ones hand out components and small gold, while the stage 4.5 drop can include a random five cost champion and a Champion Duplicator, and the stage 6.5 drop includes a large gold sum on top of more loot. If your health drops below 50, you also get a bonus golden orb, though you are not trying to get low on purpose to trigger it.

Leveling in the mode is not simply about rushing to level 9 as fast as possible. Most strong boards push to level 7 by around stage 3 if they are winning, hold near 50 gold for interest through level 8, then commit by rolling down through that gold, keeping a small reserve, to find their last upgrades and hit level 9. A handful of comps intentionally cap out lower, at level 6 or 7, trading a lower ceiling for a much easier game to actually execute.

Choncc's Treasure Tips and Strategy

  • Check your free starting champion against the comps on this site before committing to a plan. If it fits, build around it early. If it does not, treat it as sellable value and play a normal opening.
  • Do not dive for the golden orb by intentionally taking damage below 50 health. The orb is a bonus for a rough game, not something worth fighting for.
  • Hold near 50 gold for interest once you are close to your target level, then commit by rolling down rather than spending gold piecemeal throughout the game.
  • Pick a comp with a level target that matches how confident you are in your econ that game. A level 6 or 7 board is far more forgiving to execute than a level 9 one, even if the ceiling is lower.
  • Use the loot orb drops at stage 4.5 and 6.5 as checkpoints. A random five cost champion or a Champion Duplicator can be worth pivoting your plan around if it lines up with what you are already building.
